Newburgh, NY, May 2017—Fostertown Elementary School has a great new garden thanks to the team at Unitex who helped Mr. Garzione (Fostertown ETC Science Club Teacher Advisor) bring his concept to life. Over the past four years, Unitex has made generous donations to Mr. Garzione’s science club, allowing them to improve upon their existing garden as well as build a new fenced in garden area and composting stations. In addition to working with Mr. Garzione, Unitex also sponsors the school’s annual recycling competition in honor of Earth Day, awarding a pizza party to the class that collects the most cans and bottles. This year, Fostertown Elementary collected over 10,000 cans and bottles and Miss Mercado’s 2nd grade class took home the prize.
Committed to giving back to Newburgh schools and the community, Unitex, a regional healthcare laundry industry business with locations throughout the Northeast (including Newburgh), is an advocate for green technology. The team was excited to partner with Mr. Garzione and Fostertown Elementary School for another Earth Day celebration. Giving back is also a huge part of the company’s DNA, especially for the local schools where Unitex is based, like Newburgh.
“We enjoy working with Mr. Garzione and the students and faculty at Fostertown Elementary School and were excited to come back for another visit
this Earth Day,” said David Potack, Vice President of Unitex. “As part of this program, we want to encourage students to take better care of the earth
and this is a great way to connect with them in order to help make a difference.”
