Hartford, CT, July 2016— Last month, Unitex was honored to escort Luke Bronin, the Mayor of Hartford, and Donald Chapman, the Director of Community Development, on a complete tour of one of Unitex’s two healthcare laundry facilities in Hartford. David Potack, Senior Vice President of Unitex, and Dave Cerpa, General Manager of Unitex’s Ledyard Street plant, showed the Mayor and Mr. Chapman how Unitex operates its state-of-the-art facility by giving them a behind the scenes look at the plant, its staff and how the company manages business on a day-to-day basis. During the tour, the team discussed Unitex’s commitment to local and regional healthcare providers and how the company creates jobs for hundreds of city residents. The Mayor was very impressed with Unitex’s operation and expressed support for Unitex’s continued business presence in Hartford.
“It was an incredible opportunity to meet with Mayor Bronin and Director Chapman at our facility,” said David Potack. “We are proud to do business here in Hartford and have bright plans for the future. During the Mayor’s visit, we were able to reinforce the importance of community and our desire to work closely with his team to support local events and programs for years to come.”
As a leader in the healthcare laundry industry, Unitex has fulfilled a critical role in Hartford’s business development from the first day it opened its Hartford doors over 22 years ago. Unitex has supported the city by providing stellar linen service to numerous local and regional healthcare facilities. Additionally, the company has played a major role in helping to bring more opportunities to the city. Unitex employs many local residents, close to 200 people between its Ledyard Street and Meadow Street facilities, and makes giving back to community programs and schools a foundation of its business. The company also regularly works with and supports local organizations like the Grace Academy, the Hartford Police Athletic League, and the Parkville Community School. In the future, Unitex looks forward to working closely with the Mayor’s office on business development initiatives to improve the city of Hartford.
